  • We are thrilled to unveil our inaugural permanent installation, our captivating handcrafted black door set against the stunning backdrop of Harlesiel Beach with its breathtaking views of the Wattenmeer, especially enchanting at sunset. Originally, a similar door was a movable photo object showcased for six weeks in front of Cliner Quelle in Carolinensiel during the 49th Harlekunstausstellung in 2023, organized by OKK (Ostfriesischer Kunstkreis). Inspired by its success, Kai Koch, executive director of Nordseeheilbad Carolinensiel-Harlesiel, envisioned a lasting installation at Harlesiel Beach. After months of meticulous planning and execution led by marketing director Marcus Harazim, we proudly opened this first installation in May 2024. Since then, the door has drawn considerable interest, becoming a popular photo spot for visitors of all ages.

  • we are proud to announce that we are supporting the charity nationalpark Wattenmeer.

“A door with a view of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Wadden Sea in the North Sea spa town of Carolinensiel-Harlesiel:

Artworks can evoke emotions and create a personal connection with the viewer. A selfie in front of a piece of art that resonates particularly strongly can capture these emotions and bring them back later. This is precisely what we have achieved with the door created by the artist duo Thandsome.

For many guests and locals alike, taking a photo in the door with a view of the North Sea has already become as much a part of their vacation as a walk along the dike or a boat trip. A selfie in front of the door is a great way to document a visit and share it with friends and family. It serves as a personal reminder of a special experience. Ultimately, it's also a form of marketing that helps make the artworks and the institution itself more well-known. Platforms like Instagram have popularized the sharing of selfies and made artworks popular subjects. The door to the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site is already one of the top selfie spots in the North Sea spa town of Carolinensiel-Harlesiel. It encourages new visitors to check out the spot, with numerous comments on social media like "I absolutely have to go there" or "this is now on my bucket list" underscoring this effect.

Our conclusion: Beyond the highly professional collaboration with Annika Kuchenbecker and Thorsten Maruhn of Thandsome, the installation of the door at the World Heritage Site not only met but exceeded our expectations.
