In October 2024, after months of dedicated collaboration with the Ostfriesischer Kunstkreis (OKK) and the Heinz-Wieker Foundation, thandsome unveiled Door No. 3 in Wittmund. This remarkable new installation not only continues the artistic series of doors, but also anchors it in the heart of East Frisia.
Known locally as the “Door to the City”, it stands at the Bouleplatz on Norderstraße—a symbolic portal where the boundary between everyday life and imaginative possibility blurs. The OKK, with its long-standing commitment to nurturing local art, was a natural partner for this project.
In fact, the cooperation was born from shared vision and trust: the Heinz-Wieker Foundation backed the project, enabling the door’s installation and helping to weave this new artwork into the cultural fabric of Wittmund.
Door No. 3 becomes more than a sculptural object—it is a statement of belonging and possibility. As one local article describes:
“Wittmund has its second door … Now the citizens of Wittmund can symbolically walk through the door into a shining future—or wherever they choose to go.” Ostfriesischer Kunstkreis e.V.
It links neighbourhoods (Peldemühle – Bouleplatz), echoes the spirit of Harlesiel, and even resonates beyond Germany: a counterpart exists in Scotland (Glen Coe), highlighting how art can transcend geographical boundaries.

we are proud to announce that we are supporting the local Youth Center “Jugend Zentrum Wittmund”.
“Since 1986, the Wittmund Youth Center, affectionately known as "Jung Lü Huus," has been a vibrant space for children and teens from elementary school age and up. Our mission centers around fostering acceptance, tolerance, and diversity. In addition to our main location in Wittmund, we run youth spaces in various nearby towns.
Our work is dynamic, creative, and adaptable, always focused on supporting the personal development of our young visitors. Building strong relationships is at the heart of what we do—we offer guidance, support, and advice for young people facing a range of life challenges. Thanks to donations, many of our programs are either low-cost or completely free, making them accessible to families. This is especially true for our holiday programs during Easter, summer, and fall breaks, as well as the numerous activities we run throughout the year.
A standout feature of our services is our free guitar course, giving music-loving teens the chance to take their first steps in learning an instrument.
Beyond our regular programs, we also host community-wide events that everyone can enjoy. These include concerts, Halloween and Carnival parties, children's festivals, creative workshops, flea markets, and our signature event, the much-loved "Happy Day" children's festival in the town center. We work closely with our partners who enable us to continue our work.
In addition, we collaborate with local schools, offering class projects such as social skills training, coolness training, and even anti-aggression workshops when needed.
Your donation helps us maintain and expand our diverse range of services. For more information, visit our website at www.juz-wittmund.de or feel free to reach out to us directly.”
