Door number 5
-
Door No. 5 is located in a Bedouin village in the middle of the desert, close to Port Ghalib, Egypt.
-
Door No. 5 began with a moment of connection in the Egyptian desert. When we first travelled to Egypt in 2025, our German-speaking guide, Omar Anas, took us to a Bedouin village and introduced us to the Sheikh and members of the local community. Standing there, surrounded by desert, mountains, and stories, the idea was born: to place one of our doors on a mountain in the desert — and to use it as a way to support the Bedouin community.
After more than a year of planning from afar, the project finally came to life in April 2026. Omar organised everything on site: the production of the door in Tanta, its transport through Egypt, and the final opening day on the mountain.
Door No. 5 was made possible through the generous support of ENERIX Bremen & Diepholz, a German solar installation company.

The donations connected to Door No. 5 can only be collected directly on site in the Bedouin village. Every contribution will go towards financing a local well, helping to provide better access to water for the community. Through this project, the door becomes more than an artwork — it becomes a symbol of connection and support.
